Roberto Luongo’s Defense Drives Win Over Oilers
Sep 30th, 2007

Roberto Luongo managed to make 35 stops in the Vancouver Canuck’s 5-4 pre-season victory over the Edmonton Oilers. The win broke a 3 game winning streak for the Oilers, putting them at 5-2 in the pre-season, with Vancouver ending at 4-2-2.
Luongo was a bit philosophical about the last few wins.
“We still have to work a little bit in our zone and on our penalty killing. We have to tighten that up, but offensively we have been doing some good things.”
As mentioned, he turned away 35 shots and faced 39. With the team winning by one goal, the defensive victory reminds one of last year, when it seemed like Luongo was carrying the team. This year’s squad promises to be better. We can only hope they can score when they get the chance.
The Canucks are going to win the stanley cup this year with Roberto Luongo in net.
Robby-
I sure hope so.
